Day 17: Peer Editing Day 2

Objective:

I can make sure my topic sentences and analysis are excellent.

Agenda:
1) Go to your final draft and write in the What I Need Help With box what help you want from your peer editor today.  Save mechanics and grammar for tomorrow.

2)  Go back to the same peer editor partner as yesterday.  Have them first look through want you want them to help with.

3)  Then, you are going to look at paragraph breaks, topic sentences, and analysis. Here is a sheet.

4) Read ALL the topic sentences first.  Is each topic sentence an IDEA as opposed to something that just tells the story of independence?  Does it connect to the thesis?

5)  MECHANICS Break!  Double check that all the verbs are in the past tense.

6)  Go to the second to last paragraph.  Read the analysis.  Does it tie to the topic sentence?

7)  Read the paragraph BEFORE that paragraph. Read the analysis.  Does it tie to the topic sentence?

Homework:

1)  Topic sentences and analysis should be perfect by tomorrow.
2)  Tonight, please have someone at home read your paper for mechanics.  There should be zero spelling or capitalization errors on your final draft.  You have worked too hard!
