Discussion of Scrapbook. You have TWO assignmnets for this on Classroom, one for the group and one for your individual research.

Work Time -  Today, work on your research,  You should have your GROUP research finished by the end of class today.

Tomorrow is time to work on the scrapbook pages themselves.

Warm Up:

What is a turning point?

Objective:

I can explain how course of the war changed and the events that helped "turn the tide"

Agenda:

1)  Turning Tides Reading and Graphic Organizer.  Using your homework on 32.4, identify the key elements of the turning of the tides and fill out the graphic organizer here.  If you need it, the textbook reading is here.
2)  Timeline

3)  BLUE - Here are stations if you need them. And a Stations Graphic Organizer.

Homework:

1)  Be prepared for a quick quiz next class. I really want you to know those unit terms.
2) Your part of the group research will be due by the end of class on Monday.  If you want to get ahead, you can start dividing up that work.

Objective:

I can explain how the Axis Powers quickly expanded their territory at the beginning of WWII.

Agenda:

Let's look at the speed of the Axis advance in Europe.  


  1. What is the impact of the speed of this advance?
  2. Map Work:  In your groups, take your notes and draw out the advance.  Make yourself a key!
  3. Spend time working on this awesome site about the Battle of Britain.

Homework:  

Please make sure you read and take notes on Chapter 32.4 for next class.

Homework:

1)  Complete reading / notes on 31.4.  This is a good time to make sure you have read all the required reading for this unit!

2)  Extra Credit Option for up to three points:  Write a textbook excerpt and create an image about any topic we have completed this quarter from TWO very different points of view.  Each excerpt should have at least two unit terms mentioned as part of the excerpt and share at least one event.  This will be due by Friday via email.

  • I can explain what we should learn from the atrocities of the conflict between China and Japan in WWII.

  3. Discussion of lack of knowledge of this war in the west.

Warm Up:


Which of the World Wars cost the most human casualties?  Why?

Agenda:

1)  Video on human cost.  I find this one of the most amazing videos I have ever used.
